How do you become a Christian?
Do you begin your life as a Christian because your parents are Christians? Is it a matter of joining the 'right' church? Is it by doing good works or trying to be like Jesus or doing the best you can? No! None of the above! Jesus said 'Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born again.'". To be born again, you need to receive Jesus as your personal Saviour by inviting Him to come into your life, realizing that He died for your sins, and asking Him to be the Lord of your life. The bible says that 'as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to be the children of God.' (John 1:12). It's not a matter of your earthly qualifications, background, race or religion; you need to have a relationship with Jesus Himself. Jesus said 'Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice AND OPENS THE DOOR, I will come into him and dine with him, and he with Me.' (Revelation 3:20). This speaks of the personal relationship and fellowship we must have with Christ. The invitation is open to all regardless of status, for "God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that WHOSOEVER believes in Him should NOT PERISH, but have EVERLASTING LIFE.' (John 3:16 ) Amen.
